(Editor’s Note: Doc offers some insights on the surprising gifts that traveling a hard road in life can mean for you. Enjoy!)
I do not know why, some people travel a harder road than others, but I do know that the hard roads almost always make us more authentic and real in the world. Of course what we do with our realness and authenticity is still a question mark. Some will retreat and become inaccessible and simply do what they can do. Some will find a means to leverage their adversity for something greater than they imagined when they first became conscious of the possibilities. And some, some will simply dance lightly upon this earth and leave us way to soon. It may not always feel like a choice, but I have learned the only things we have to do is breathe, eat, sleep and a few other sundries, leaving everything else as a choice. We may not have chosen the hardships that have come upon us, but we will inevitably choose how we respond.
The notion of of this freedom scares us immeasurably, yet also offers us opportunities as of yet unimagined, but waiting for us as if it were a cloud suddenly being lifted in the place where we live for the first time.
CHOOSE WITH HEART, CHOOSE WITH LOVE,
CHOOSE TO HELP THOSE YOU MEET ALONG THE ROAD WITH COMPASSION
HARD ROAD OR NOT, YOU MUST CHOOSE, SO PLEASE CHOOSE WISELY
